Mural Project to start on Monday, Jan. 2

12.14.2011 Ron Karten Culture, Events

The Grand Ronde Mural Project is scheduled to begin Monday, Jan. 2, and take about a month to complete.

The mural will be painted on panels at the former middle school gym in Grand Ronde and then be moved to a permanent site by the entrance to Tribal Housing.

During the first week, an artist team and student apprentices will set up the work space and draw the 70-foot mural design. On the second weekend of Jan. 7-8, Grand Ronde community members will be encouraged to attend a Saturday open house where anyone can help paint the mural (no previous art experience is necessary).

The gym will be open to community members throughout the month of January. People are welcome to stop by and visit, or take advantage of an open art studio where people can create their own drawings and paintings under the guidance of professional mural artists.
