10.02.2017 Dean Rhodes General Council

More than 40 Tribal members were briefed on the Tribe’s overall financial status by Finance Officer Chris Leno during the Sunday, Oct. 1, General Council meeting held in the Tribal gym.

Leno gave a 35-minute presentation in executive session and fielded eight comments and questions from Tribal members in attendance.

Because the financial briefing was held in executive session, Smoke Signals cannot report on the specific details.

Tribal members who were unable to attend can obtain a video of the financial presentation as well as the PowerPoint presentation by contacting Tribal Council Chief of Staff Stacia Hernandez at stacia.martin@grandronde.org or calling 503-879-2304.

The General Council meeting opened with an invocation by Tribal Elder and former Tribal Council member Steve Bobb Sr. and Tribal Council Chairwoman Cheryle A. Kennedy gave a brief cultural presentation regarding the Sept. 29 Coffee & Conversation event held in Medford.

Kennedy also announced that the Nov. 5 General Council meeting also will be held in the Tribal gym and start at 10 a.m. to accommodate the 2018 draft budget presentation before lunch and a presentation after lunch by the Tribe’s investment consulting firm, Robert W. Baird & Co.

Tribal Elders Debi Anderson, Louise Coulson and Wayne Peters won the $100 door prizes and Felicia Torres, Francene Ambrose, Elvin Butler Jr., Nancy Norton and Bobb won the $50 door prizes. Bobb donated his door prize to the Veterans Special Event Board, which he chairs.
