Reservation, timber lands close for weekend

Tribal Council and Natural Resources Department staff have made the decision to restrict access to the Grand Ronde Reservation and Tribal timber lands effective at 5 p.m. Friday, July 31, through Sunday, Aug. 2, 2015. This closure is due to the industrial fire precaution level being raised to a level 3, combined with the forecasted high temperatures and low humidity expected for the weekend.

Tribal Council and staff from the Natural Resources Department will continue to reassess the closure of Tribal timber lands and revisit the precaution level currently in effect for the Grand Ronde Reservation and Tribal timber lands. Our timber is a multi-million dollar asset and the Tribe has an obligation to protect all of our Tribal assets. Protecting the Grand Ronde Reservation and our natural resources is one of the highest priorities for Tribal Council and staff. We thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.

If you see fire, please call 911 immediately.
