01.07.2015 Dean Rhodes Events, Public Safety

A public hearing about a proposed Polk County Public Safety Levy will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, in the Tribal Community Center.

The Polk County Board of Commissioners is considering placement on the May ballot a levy that would raise 45 cents per $1,000 of assessed value for five years to help fund public safety. The levy would be used to hire 22 employees, including 12 in the Sheriff's Office patrol, five in the jail and five in the District Attorney's Office, along with two additional juvenile detention beds.

The hearing is designed to collect public input and answer questions.
