2008 - Tribal Council passed a Tribal law guaranteeing the right to work on the Grand Ronde Reservation without mandatory requirements that employees join a labor union or pay dues, fees or other financial support to a labor union.

2003 - A new pedestrian safety sidewalk was installed in Grand Ronde Tribal Elder's Housing. The sidewalk is 752 feet long and 5 feet wide, and it is Americans With Disabilities Act approved with four access ramps.

1998 - Tribal Council voted to change the name of the Tribal newspaper back to Smoke Signals. In addition, Tribal member Peter Wakeland was announced as the first Hatfield Fellow at a press conference held at the Portland Hilton.

1993 - Publications does not have a copy of the November 1993 Smoke Signals.

1988 - An estimated 300 Tribal members and friends of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde celebrated a new beginning on Oct. 22 with the re-establishment of the Grand Ronde Reservation. "I am confident, in every way, that the creation of this reservation will contribute to an improved standard of living for the entire area," said Chairman Mark Mercier.
