2006 - Tribal Community Meetings were under way in Canyonville, Eugene, Grand Ronde, Federal Way, Wash., and Portland, providing the widest access ever for Tribal members who live in the Pacific Northwest. Tribal Planning & Grants Development Manager Kim Rogers said the meetings concentrated on off-reservation and non-Indian gaming proposals "and the need for the Tribe to plan for these challenges."

2001 - Tribal Chairwoman Kathryn Harrison was honored at the May General Council meeting for her years of dedicated service to the Tribe. She had announced that she would not be seeking re-election to Tribal Council. Tribal Council Secretary Reyn Leno pinned an honor corsage on her lapel while Tribal members gave her a standing ovation.

1996 - Spirit Mountain Casino was advertising for positions in its "shiny new restaurant" Legends Steakhouse, which was scheduled to open July 1. The casino was advertising for cooks starting at $10 an hour, dishwashers starting at $7 an hour and bussers starting at $6 an hour, among other jobs.

1991 - Grand Ronde Tribal Health Director Cheryle A. Kennedy received the 1991 Minority Health Conference's Outstanding Individual Award. She was nominated by the Tribal Health Committee. Kennedy has been Tribal Health director since October 1984.

1986 - Tribal Council authorized the start-up of the Social Services Program, which will be BIA-funded and designed to provide counseling and family assistance to Grand Ronde Tribal members. The program also had responsibility for the Indian Child Welfare Act, but did not provide financial payments to Tribal members.
