Geneva M. (Haller) Handsaker

Dec. 20, 1921 – Dec. 8, 2015

Tribal Elder Geneva M. (Haller) Handsaker, 93, of Aumsville, Ore., was born Dec. 20, 1921, and passed over on Dec. 8, 2015. She was the daughter of Wilbur Dan and Abeline Menard Haller and the eldest of 16 brothers and sisters. She will be missed.

Geneva was a good cook. As a matter of fact, she made the Thanksgiving meal just a day before she became ill. She also loved animals of all kinds; the more, the better. Because she was the oldest, she had many family stories to tell. She had a good, long life. So, now, sis, rest in peace.

Geneva’s siblings are sisters, Marion West (who preceded her in death), Betty Garrett and Hazel Porter Haller of Shasta Lake City, Calif., Phyllis Cureton (who preceded her in death), and Delores (Odie) Knight and Carol Gleason of Grand Ronde, Ore.; and brothers, Wilbur (Son) Haller of Pasco, Wash., Harold (Bubby) Haller (who preceded her in death), Edward (Ronnie) Haller, Robert (Bob) Haller and Kenneth Haller of Willamina, Ore., Daniel Haller (who preceded her in death), Donald Haller of San Diego, Calif., Harvey Haller of Redding, Calif., and Charles Haller (who preceded her in death).

Her children are Grace Chandler of Salem, Ore., Leroy Chandler of New Mexico, Dennis Chandler, who preceded her in death, and Joyce Chandler of Redding, Calif.

Her husband of many years, Dave Handsaker, preceded her in death.

She also had three adopted children, Renae, Sandy and Delbert, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held Thursday, Dec. 17, at Lone Oak Cemetery in Stayton. Arrangements were entrusted to Weddle Funeral Services.
