Tribal timber lands closed effective July 1

07.01.2015 Dean Rhodes Tribal Council, Natural Resources

Tribal Council met with staff from the Natural Resources Department on Tuesday, June 30, to assess the precaution level currently in effect on the Grand Ronde Reservation and Tribal timber lands. With heat advisories in effect throughout Oregon and the Northwest, Tribal Council and staff decided to close Tribal timber lands effective 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 1.

The closure will remain in effect through the Fourth of July weekend and until staff and Tribal Council are able to reassess the hazardous conditions. During the closure, Natural Resources staff will be patrolling to identify any potential hazards. Tribal timber is a multi-million dollar asset and the Tribe has an obligation to protect all Tribal assets. The Tribe thanks you for your patience and understanding during this time. If you see a fire, call 911 immediately.
