Tribal Council requests enrollment hearings be postponed because of federal shutdown

At the recent General Council and Tribal Council meetings, a concern was raised that with the federal shutdown, BIA and the National Archives are closed.

This may create a hardship for people who received letters of potential disenrollment and who are researching their family history.

The Tribal Council is therefore recommending the Member Services Department and Enrollment Committee postpone disenrollment hearings that are currently scheduled for November 2013, due to the on-going shutdown of the federal government, including the National Archives and BIA.

Tribal Council requests such disenrollment hearings be rescheduled to occur 30 days after the federal shutdown has ended. -- Tribal Chairman Reyn Leno
