Tribal water quality probe taken

The Yamhill County Sheriff's Office is seeking leads on a water quality probe taken from inside black PVC pipe submerged in three to four feet of water in Agency Creek.

Hoping to get the expensive equipment back for the Tribe's Natural Resources Department, the Sheriff's Office is saying that the equipment may have been mistaken for something discarded.

"Because the equipment was tied to a cinder block and submerged, the finder may have thought that the equipment was thrown away and did not realize its value," said Sheriff Jack Crabtree.

The probe has little or no resale value, but it will cost $7,930 to replace, Crabtree said.

Information shedding light on the whereabouts of this equipment can be provided to Deputy Shane Rice at 503-434-7506.
