Tribe purchasing Bearco property
Tribal Council voted 4-0 on Wednesday, June 20, to approve the purchase of the 2.35-acre Bearco property located on the north side of the entrance to the Tribal campus in Grand Ronde.
"We are expected to close on the property in mid-July," said Tribal Lands Manager Jan Michael Looking Wolf Reibach. "In addition to the parcel being surrounded by Tribal land, we are working on a highest and best use analysis with the Executive Office and Tribal Council. Its location offers many options to the Tribe."
Formerly an auto wrecking location, the Bearco Property has been cleared of vehicles in anticipation of the sale. Reibach said the Tribe purchased the property at a reasonable price after years of negotiations.
"Congratulations to the Tribe," Reibach said at the June 20 meeting. "We have a signed purchase-and-sale agreement."
Reibach said the Tribe has completed the majority of due diligence on the site, including environmental testing.
