Tribal Council statement regarding Valorie Sheker

On Tuesday, April 24, Tribal Council member Valorie Sheker was arrested by the Polk County Sheriff's Office.

As a Tribal Council, we hold ourselves accountable to the members we serve and to the governments we interact with. That being said, the safety of our Tribal members, our housing and our community partners is our top priority.

We are bringing our Tribal Council together immediately and as soon as council has sufficient information, we will address this situation. We will keep our membership informed as this progresses. We also are giving local authorities our full cooperation.

As a Tribal Council, we are taking steps to address this individual in the best possible manner for our people, our government and our administration.
